What Is Included in a Pre-Purchase Exam

The equine pre-purchase examination includes:

  • ophthalmic exam
  • neuro exam
  • lameness evaluation
  • written interpretation

An equine pre-purchase exam from Premier Equine Veterinary Service allows you to gain insight on any equine before purchase. This exam may alert you to underlying health concerns or lameness that can affect the longevity or athletic capabilities of a potential purchase.

  • Farm Call Fee -$65 to $150 (depending on location)
  • Pre-Purchase Exam – $440 – includes full physical exam, full ophthalmic exam, full neuro exam, full lameness, and a written interpretation.

There is a radiology setup fee of $12.10

  • Sedation – $45-$85
  • Pre-Purchase Exam and X-rays of Hocks (8 views) and Front feet (4 views) – $860
  • 1-4 radiographs (average is 4 views per joint) – $67.10 per view
  • 5-10 radiographs – $55 per view
  • 11+ radiographs – $49.50 per view
  • Upper airway scope – $250
  • Soft Tissue Ultrasound – $287.10
